Challenges for Students with Dyslexia

Research indicates dyslexia affects 20 percent of the population and represents 80–90 percent of all those with learning disabilities.

However, not all schools have the necessary resources to support the specific learning styles of students with dyslexia.

And families with children who have dyslexia may not know where to start to obtain the right support.

EDUKATE NYC BACKGROUND

Inspired by her own experience as a student with dyslexia, Mina Karsevar set out to make a difference in the lives of other children in need of the right academic support and resources to flourish.

With the help of family, friends, and community, Edukate NYC was formed to provide much needed support to children and their families as they navigate the world of dyslexia.

MISSION

Edukate NYC’s mission is to help students with dyslexia meet their academic potential. By partnering with academic institutions and organizations offering programs tailored for dyslexic students, Edukate NYC provides funding to help cover costs, including but not limited to, diagnostic services, tuition, and related fees associated with the application and enrollment process.

VALUES

We believe all children should have an equal opportunity to meet their academic potential and succeed in school, including all children with dyslexia.

We are committed to taking an inclusive approach in identifying children in need of our services. We aim to serve underrepresented and financially disadvantaged students with dyslexia.
